How do I start a Factorio server at MC-Node?
Factorio has one of the most loyal communities on Steam: stable at around 17,000 average players for years. If you want to build a mega factory together with friends, your own server is the best foundation. At MC-Node your Factorio server is online within 1 minute, from €3.00 per month and cancellable monthly.
Step 1: Order your server
- Go to mc-node.net/store/factorio.
- Choose a plan (2 to 20 GB RAM) and a server location: the Netherlands, Germany, Poland or North America. Pick the location closest to you and your fellow players for the lowest ping.
- Complete the order. Your server is created automatically and is online within 1 minute. All plans run on NVMe storage and come with DDoS protection.
Which plan do I need?
Factorio's official headless server is extremely lightweight. For a small group of players and a starting factory, the entry-level plan with 2 GB RAM is therefore more than enough.
- 2-4 GB RAM: small groups and normal factories. Thanks to the lightweight headless server, this will take you a long way.
- Larger plans: useful if you're building a very large base or want extra headroom. Note: with large factories, it's mainly the CPU's single-thread speed that determines performance, not just the RAM. MC-Node's servers are built for that.
Not sure? Start small: you can switch or cancel monthly.
Step 2: First start via the panel
- Log in to the game panel via panel.mc-node.net with the details you received by email.
- Open your Factorio server in the overview.
- Click Start on the Console tab. In the console you can watch the server boot up; after a few seconds it is ready.
- Note the server address (IP and port) shown at the top of the panel. You'll need this to connect.
Step 3: Connect to your server
- Start Factorio on your own computer.
- Choose Multiplayer and then Connect to address.
- Enter the server address from the panel (in the form
ip:port) and click Connect. - You will now load the server's map and can start building together.
Good to know
Update 2.1 (late summer 2026) will be Factorio's last major update; after that, the developers will focus on stability. So your server will keep running smoothly for a long time, without surprises. Questions? Our support team is happy to help.
