How do I start a Vintage Story server at MC-Node?

Vintage Story is an in-depth wilderness survival game with a small but very loyal community. The game isn't on Steam and uses its own launcher, but renting your own server at MC-Node is just as easy as with any other game. In this article you'll learn how to order, which plan to choose and how to connect.

Step 1: Order your server

1. Go to the Vintage Story page in our store.
2. Choose a plan. Servers start at €3.00 per month, with tiers from 2 to 20 GB of RAM, NVMe storage and DDoS protection included.
3. Choose a server location: the Netherlands, Germany, Poland or North America. Pick the location closest to you and your fellow players for the lowest ping.
4. Complete the order. Your server is online within 1 minute and your subscription can be cancelled monthly.

How much RAM do I need?

Vintage Story is remarkably light for a server: count on roughly 1 GB as a baseline plus about 300 MB per player. That means:

• 2 GB (entry tier): more than enough for a small group of friends — the server runs perfectly on this.
• Larger tiers: only needed if you play with a sizeable group at once or simply want extra headroom.

Step 2: First start via the panel

1. Log in to our Pterodactyl game panel at panel.mc-node.net with the credentials you received by email. Note: the panel is in English.
2. Open your Vintage Story server in the overview.
3. Click Start on the Console tab.
4. Wait until the console reports that the server is ready. On first start the world is generated; that can take a bit longer than usual.

Step 3: Connect to your server

1. Launch Vintage Story on your own computer via the game's own launcher (the game isn't on Steam).
2. Choose Multiplayer from the main menu.
3. Add a server using your server's IP address and port. You'll find them in the panel on your server overview.
4. Connect and start surviving!
