Managing your Vintage Story server via the panel

Is your Vintage Story server running at MC-Node? Then you'll do virtually all daily management via our Pterodactyl game panel at panel.mc-node.net. In this article we walk through the most important management tasks step by step. The panel is in English, so we refer to the buttons by their English names.

Logging in to the panel

1. Go to panel.mc-node.net and log in with the credentials you received by email with your order.
2. In the overview, click your Vintage Story server to open the dashboard.

Starting, stopping and restarting

1. Open the Console tab.
2. Use the Start, Restart and Stop buttons at the top right.
3. Always use Stop or Restart instead of shutting the server down hard, so the world is saved properly.

Using the console

On the Console tab you see live what's happening on your server: who connects, notifications and any error messages. At the bottom you can type server commands that are executed immediately. Handy for quickly changing something without opening the game itself, for example.

Editing files and settings

1. Open the Files tab in the panel.
2. Here you'll find all server files, including the configuration files with your server settings.
3. Click a file to edit it directly in the browser and then click Save Content.
4. Restart the server after changing settings, otherwise your changes won't be loaded.

Tip: change one setting at a time and test in between. If something goes wrong, you'll immediately know what caused it.

Creating backups

1. Open the Backup (or Backups) tab in the panel.
2. Click Create Backup before making major changes to settings or files.
3. Want to go back to an earlier point? Restore the backup from the same page.

Keeping an eye on performance

Vintage Story needs remarkably little: about 1 GB as a base plus around 300 MB per player. On the panel's dashboard you can see your server's RAM and CPU usage live. If your community grows and memory usage consistently hits your limit, you can easily upgrade to a larger tier (up to 20 GB RAM) via our store.
