How do I connect to my FiveM server via F8?

The quickest way to join your FiveM server is the F8 console: type the server's address and you are in, without searching the server list. That is useful for a brand-new server that is not listed yet, for a private server without a listing, and to test whether the server is reachable at all.

Step 1: find the address

1. Log in to the panel and click your server.
2. Click the IP address at the top; it is copied automatically. It looks like 141.95.6.122:30120: the IP, a colon and the port.
3. Start the server if it is off and wait until the console reports that the resources have loaded.

Step 2: connect in FiveM

1. Open FiveM and press F8 to open the console.
2. Type connect 141.95.6.122:30120 with your own address and press Enter.
3. FiveM loads the resources and puts you on the server. Close the console with F8.

If you have a cfx.re join link (shown in the server list or in the server console at start-up), you can also use connect cfx.re/join/abc123. That keeps working even if the IP changes.

Letting your friends join

They use exactly the same address. Share it on Discord, or make it easier with your own domain: with a FiveM play domain players type connect play.yourserver.com instead of an IP. Common messages

• Failed to connect to server / Timed out: the server is off, still loading, or the address or port is wrong. Check the console in the panel.
• Could not resolve address: a typo in the address or a domain that does not exist. Copy the address from the panel again.
• You are not whitelisted: the server uses a whitelist (often through Discord roles in the framework). Add yourself in the whitelist settings of your server or framework.
• Connection rejected by server: Server is full: all slots are taken. See changing the maximum number of players.
• Authenticating with cfx.re failed: a temporary outage at Cfx.re or a problem with your FiveM account; try again in a few minutes.
• Stuck on "Downloading content": a resource is too large or broken. Check the server console for the resource that loaded last.

Other useful F8 commands

• disconnect: leave the server without closing FiveM.
• quit: close FiveM entirely.
• connect without an address: rejoin the last server (through the server list history).
• resmon: shows which resources use the most memory and CPU on the client side; useful with low FPS.
