Installing workshop mods on your Unturned server

🎮 Other games · Updated 18/08/2026

Workshop mods are one of the biggest reasons why Unturned servers are so popular: from new maps and vehicles to complete RP setups. In this article you'll learn step by step how to install and manage Steam Workshop mods on your Unturned server at MC-Node.

Before you start

  • You need an active Unturned server at MC-Node. No server yet? Order one via mc-node.net/store/unturned.
  • Mods cost extra memory. Unturned is light on resources, but if you run many or large mods, consider a plan with more RAM.
  • Players connecting to your server need the same mods. Steam usually downloads them automatically when they connect, as long as the mods are public on the Workshop.

Step 1: find the mod and the Workshop ID

  1. Open the Unturned Steam Workshop page in Steam or your browser.
  2. Find the mod you want to use, for example a map, item pack or RP mod.
  3. Open the mod's page and look at the link. The number at the end of the link is the Workshop ID. Note down this number.
  4. Repeat this for every mod you want to install.

Step 2: add the mod to your server

  1. Log in to the game panel via panel.mc-node.net and open your Unturned server.
  2. Stop the server via the Stop button. Making changes is safest on a stopped server.
  3. Open the configuration file containing your server's Workshop mods, via Files in the panel.
  4. Add the Workshop ID of each mod to the list and save the file with Save.

Step 3: restart and test

  1. Click Start to start the server again.
  2. Watch the Console: you'll see the server download and load the Workshop mods. With large mods this can take a while.
  3. Connect to your server from Unturned and check whether the mod works, for example whether the new map or items are visible.

Removing or updating mods

  • Removing: take the Workshop ID out of the list, save and restart the server.
  • Updating: Workshop mods are checked again during startup. A simple restart via Restart in the panel is usually enough to fetch updates.
  • Problems? Check the Console to see which mod produces an error and test mods one by one if the server no longer starts.

Tip: start with a few mods and expand gradually. That way you'll immediately know which mod is causing the problem if something goes wrong. If you can't figure it out, our support is ready to help.
